Constipation and Transit Time

Constipation and Transit Time

In a healthy colon transit time should be 24 hours or less. Dairy and meat products may slow the process down somewhat. If you eat 3 meals a day, you should evacuate at least twice a day. If transit time is longer and elimination is less frequent than that, your constipation is chronic and could be a problem.

Some simple tips include:

  • Water – 8-10 glasses of water every day.
  • Fibre – 50% soluble fibre and 50% insoluble fibre and should be taken with a lot of water. This ratio allows the fibre to absorb toxins, excess cholesterol, and increase elimination – without the constipating side effects created by other psyllium and fibre products.
  • Omega 3 facilitates the movement of fecal matter through the colon.

Regular Colonics are essential for hydrating the colon and restoring normal activity. I ask people for a 30-90-day commitment to see improvements in their health, but always advise patience. For example, it took me 2 years to eliminate my lifelong hay fever a result of my chronic constipation.
